Recognising innovation, professionalism and best practice, the BCS IT Industry Awards were announced at the Grosvenor House Hotel on 4 December. With IT at the heart of modern day life and business, the awards recognised a wide range of organisations, individuals and projects.

Data centres' code of conduct
BCS has welcomed the publication of a European code of conduct for data centre operators. BCS sees this as a sign that the industry is beginning to address the issue of carbon emissions which current forecasts compare to the level from the aviation industry.

BCS announce MP website award winners
According to a survey commissioned by BCS only 7 per cent of British adults have looked at their MP's website and only 46 per cent know the name of their MP. This contrasts sharply with the level of public interaction generated through social networking sites and the internet in the recent US presidential race.

Two Foremost BCS Figures Appointed Honorary Fellows
